Bristol Street Trees

Initially Bristol Street Trees lobbied Bristol City Council on four fundamental issues:
• Stopping the removal of trees in the public realm without prior consultation with interested parties and those affected by the works.
• Instigating a replacement programme for ALL trees that had been removed.
• Planting new trees in new public locations, especially along roads or in 'dead' highway.
• Planning succession planting to balance anticipated future tree removal or loss.
As a result of our campaign Bristol City Council has now set-up the Bristol Tree Forum which is beginning to address these issues.
Additionally, and encouragingly, Bristol City Council have now replanted some of our lost street trees, although there is still much to be achieved.
